Description

A high-quality print produced on acid-free archival quality heavy paper, this print shows Christ rescuing St Peter from the stormy sea: Jesus said, “Come.” Peter stepped out of the boat and began to walk on the water. As he took a few more steps, he took his eyes off of Christ, noticing the wind and rough waters. … Jesus came to him, grabbing him out of the water and said, “Ye of little faith: why do you doubt?” (the story is told in Matthew 14).

I wanted to capture the sense of chaos in our lives (as shown in the sea) when we take our eyes off Christ – how He is always ready to calm the waters and hold us up, safely. The icon is based on a Byzantine mosaic and shows the apostles in a traditional boat such as would have been used on the Sea of Galilee.

When Peter calls “Lord, save me!” Christ is quick to hear and act, as He is for us.

Giclee prints are produced with specialised art equipment to produce highly saturated, detailed prints which capture the transparent layers and complex colours of the original. The paper is matt cotton and can be framed or mounted as desired. It comes in a clear cellowrap envelope with cardboard to protect it front and back.
