Three little birds

One of my favourite songs is Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds”:  he sang about the usual things but he wasn’t afraid to say “give thanks and praise to the Lord, and it will be alright”! So when in need of some energy or relaxation, I tend to play his greatest hits.

Today our own ‘three little birds’ arrived – although they are rather large!

Rescue hens from the Wing & a Prayer Rescue charity here in Scotland.

I had no idea they would be so large or indeed white! I assumed they would be typical brown/chestnut coloured.. But I don’t mind. As you can see they are in quite a state and of course, would normally be on their way to become pet food etc by now.

I do hope to get some eggs once their medication period is finished but mostly, I would like to see them act like real hens and have normal feathers… Please mention little Nora (Batty), Chloe and Pearl if you have a moment. We have been listening to Black Beauty and there is a very strong passage that I wanted to quote for you here:

There is no religion without love, and people may talk as much as they like about their religion, but if it does not teach them to be good and kind to man and beast it is all a sham – all a sham, James, and it won’t stand when things come to be turned inside out and put down for what they are.

  1. Love your little ladies! They look so much like my bedraggled little Bramble, whom we have adopted from the local Cat Shelter – she is waiting for her fur to grow back on her body.
